Michigan’s Budding Cannabis Tourism

Recreational cannabis sales started in Detroit this year, but 420 friendly vacation ideas are yet to be promoted through Pure Michigan and Visit Detroit’s campaigns. Traverse City, a tourist hotspot in northern Michigan, has issued 16 licenses for recreational marijuana. Even though it will be available for purchase this summer, the city’s visitors bureau is reluctant to promote it due to consumption restrictions, said Whitney Waara, COO of Traverse City Tourism.

While still emerging, cannabis companies and entrepreneurs in Michigan are now offering comprehensive travel guides showcasing the optimal methods of cannabis consumption and 420 vacations. This year, business owners boast unparalleled opportunities for cannabis enthusiasts. Brian Buchanan, Northern Michigan’s cannabis outfitter, is at the forefront of marijuana tourism.
