She is the most recent high-profile celebrity embroiled in drug possession cases while on vacation. It turns out she had a bit of a sticky situation during her Cayman Islands vacation earlier this summer when she got arrested for marijuana possession.
On July 10, as Gigi and her pal landed on a private jet for a well-deserved vacation, they received a not-so-warm welcome when security searched their luggage and discovered some cannabis.
Gigi and her friend Leah McCarthy remained calm throughout the ordeal. They admitted their mistake in court, paid a fine, and the court did not record any convictions. Cayman Marl Road, a local newspaper, reported that authorities transported them to a detention center and granted them release on bail.
The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control arrested Gigi and Leah for importing marijuana and consumption paraphernalia. According to her agency, the ladies owned a small amount of marijuana for personal use. Gigi’s representative asserted that they had legally purchased marijuana in New York. Since 2017, marijuana has been legal for medical use in the Cayman Islands. As a result, Cayman Island authorities cleared her record from drug possession cases.
Gigi and her friend received a fine of $1,200 after spending some time at a detention center and making a quick appearance in court.
