Limited-edition recipe from Cresco Labs makes sports bar debut in time for Superbowl
CHICAGO (420CanNews)—A pinch of salt. A dash of oregano. And a drop or two of tetrahydrocannabinol. Ganja mangia.
Weed has made its way to the tailgate party this year as cannabis-product manufacturer Cresco Labs partners with the Fifty/50, one of Chicago’s top sports bars, debuted a limited-production buffalo-wing sauce—just in time for Super Bowl LVIII, where the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will battle it out in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 11.
The THC-infused sauce hit the shelves and immediately sold out last Friday at the Sunnyside and Okay Cannabis dispensaries, and the Fifty/50 in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village.
Packaged under Cresco’s “Good News” cannabis brand, the mild, orange, wing sauce will contain 100 milligrams of THC in the form of odorless, flavorless, distilled cannabis oil, officials with the Chicago-based company said.
“As the cannabis industry matures, this is the natural evolution of where cannabis products could go,” said Jason Erkes, a spokesperson for Cresco told Eater Chicago. “[At Cresco], our whole mission is to normalize and professionalize the industry.”
The recipe uses a hybrid strain that “won’t leave fans melting in the couch,” Erkes said. The serving portions for a 10-ounce container (24 wings) deliver a microdose of 3-5 milligrams per wing, he said.
Owners of the Fifty/50 sports bar are also affiliated with a neighborhood bakery that has made THC-infused cake and brownie mixes in the past, the Eater reported.
With an estimated $750 million in revenue last year, Cresco Labs is a maker of branded cannabis products, with a portfolio of popular brands and the operator of Sunnyside dispensaries.
